Arizona Beats California, 7-3, for Second Straight Series Sweep

BERKELEY, Calif. — The Arizona Wildcats (17-13, 10-5) took an early lead that they never conceded and beat the California Golden Bears (16-13, 5-10) on Sunday afternoon to complete their second straight conference series sweep.

With the win, the Wildcats completed the first half of their Pac-12 schedule with a record of 10-5, giving them the most wins in the conference.

Starting pitcher Clark Candiotti rolled out another fantastic effort, working 5.0 two-run innings while striking out six. The right-hander earned the win to improve to 3-1 on the year.

Arizona opened the scoring in the first inning on a pair of RBI singles from Adonys Guzman and Maddox Mihalakis.

Following a handful of rallies, the Wildcats entered the eighth inning hanging on to a 5-3 lead. An RBI single from Richie Morales and a bases-loaded walk by Brendan Summerhill pushed across two runs and created the final margin of 7-3.
