Grantham, Pa. (April 14, 2024) - Alvernia University Women's Track and Field competed at the Messiah University Mutlis and Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Messiah University.

The Golden Wolves finished the invitational with 12 personal records and 11 top-ten finishes as Alvernia's outdoor season rolls on. The Golden Wolves also finished in eighth in the field of 16 teams with 52 points.

Highlights and Personal Records

• Mylina Castillo took first in the triple jump with a mark of 11.52 meters. Akilah Hoxter also had a top-ten finish in the triple jump with a personal record mark of 10.57 meters.
• Shinelle Felix took first in the long jump with a mark of 5.48 meters in her first competition of the outdoor season. 
• Isabel Fries took second in the 10,000m with a personal record time of 39:36.20.
• Caitlin Sternberg took fourth in the 100m hurdles with a personal record time of 16.24 seconds. Sternberg also had a top-ten finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:16.23.
• Jessie Torres, Rosnelly Sanchez de Aza, and Paige Jerrahian finished 4-5-6 in the 800m. Torres took fourth with a time of 2:30.51, Sanchez de Az took fifth at 2:30.81, and Jerrahian took sixth at 2:33.57.
• Elisabeth Schwarz took seventh in the 200m with a season-best time of 26.26 seconds. She also took eighth in the 100m with a time of 12.54 seconds.
• Al'liyah McCloud had two personal records broken. She broke her 100m PR with a time of 13.42 seconds to take 19th place, and broke her 200m PR with a 25th place time of 27.97.
• Elizabeth Kollock had two personal records broken. She had a PR time of 30.16 seconds in the 200m. She also hit a new PR in the javelin with a throw of 24.74m. 
• Samantha Wallace had two personal records broken. She set a new PR in the 100m with a time of 14.16 seconds, and had a PR time of 29.61 seconds in the 200m.
• Elizabeth Kavulak set a new PR in the 100m with a time of 13.63 seconds.
• Mikayla Giuliano and Maria Skulski each threw new personal records in the shot put. Giuliano took 20th with a PR mark of 9.25m. Skulski took 25th with a PR mark of 8.26m.
• Giavanni Gibson competed in her first collegiate heptathlon and took 13th place with 3,133 points. She PR'd five of the seven events.
• Cera Gaston also competed for Alvernia at the Bucknell Invitational in the 10,000m. Gaston ran a 36:33.10 to break her personal record by 45 seconds and take 27th place. That time was also good for a new Alvernia program record.

Up Next

• Alvernia splits up again on Friday and Saturday. Some individuals will compete at Hopkins on Friday and Saturday, and others will head to Widener on Friday and Saturday.
