Ipon Invest

5th Year of Ipon-Invest Challenge

The Ipon Invest challenge is celebrating its 5th year. Yes, it has been 5 years since I started the challenge of saving 33 pesos a day, intending to invest it in a mutual fund with the goal of someday reaching a million pesos. Well, that is still a long shot, but I am enjoying the experience so far. Will I be able to reach that? Maybe yes. Maybe no. But who cares?

Since I started, there have been notable events that have happened during the course of 5 years. There have been two Presidents of the Philippines: President Duterte and President Marcos. Who can forget the seemingly never-ending quarantine because of the pandemic brought by the COVID-19 virus? The war in Ukraine and Russia, which I believe also caused some economic disruptions. And also the ongoing conflict between China and its neighboring nations, including our own country, of course.

Sporting events include the FIBA World Cup held in the Philippines. It was a good experience watching international players. And the Philippines winning the gold medal in the Asian Games after 60 long years.

Personally, losing my job and the majority of my clients is one of the most unpleasant parts of the past 5 years. But luckily, I was able to survive and find new ones.

I also created two more versions of this financial experiment. The first version of the Ipon-Invest challenge is through mutual funds. The next is the Ipon-Invest challenge using GCash GInvest. And the third is the Ipon-Invest challenge using PAG-IBIG MP2.

Thank you for the 5 years of saving and investing experience. The learnings and the good financial habits that I am trying to build. The Ipon-Invest challenge will be here, continuing its journey.

See you in the next 5 years and more. In the next 10, 20, or 30 more years. Who knows?

Saan nga ba makakarating ang 33 pesos mo?

Let’s find out.

Let’s go.
