Actress Nini Wacera has been ailing after a lump was found in her breast.
"this august I found a lump in my breast right above my heart, I was home in elementaita in a celebratory mood I had gone to pick up my passport so I could travel to Zambia to scoop the Zikomo award for best supporting actress in Africra." she shared on engage Talk.
This was for her role in the Kenyan Netflix series Country Queen. _____
"I was on top of the world at that moment when I felt the t-shirt wet and sticky, I was filled with fear, utter terror oh Jesus I must have cancer."
She described the anger, fear, and despair she went through since the discovery.
Her daughter was top on her mind.
"I was thinking about my daughter that I can leave her alone so soon,"
Nini said she blamed her health crisis on a former smoking habit she picked up at University. "Smoking was glamourous"
She also blamed a lack of exercise and bad eating habits for the diagnosis.
Nini narrated that blame caused emotional destruction.
"It must be because you closed your heart to love, My multiple attempts at relationships had failed and I learned the hard way"
Nini was at the time living in Lagos shooting a reality series when she got the news her then-boyfriend was cheating on her.
He had moved on ten days after she relocated.Her daughter in Nairobi Justin wanted to find out if her boyfriend Toby had broken up because he and the art director were getting it on on set.
"I was shattered, I was heartbroken, I loved this Toby guy, and wanted to be faithful" It took him ten days to cheat on her.
After Toby, she decided to stay a single woman and a single mum.
"I erased all notion of romantic love from my life and put up a notice, closed for life."
"She also blamed her lump on the grudge she had been holding against her dad.
He had told her not to go into arts, but rather pursue Business. She didn't agrees. This led to her defying him in all sorts of ways.
She joined a singing group.Her dad's dismay came when she performed in night clubs, where one day she met a sponsor, Simon, who swept her off her feet and impregnated her in less than two months.
"I am so thrilled to be pregnant I made a naive plan to live at home," she told her parents but they refused and told her to abort or marry him.
Nini admitted to trying to make amends this year
"Life and reality is a mix of celebration and sorrow.
Right now this lump in my breast is probably the biggest ugly amid this good. Will I be okay? I don't know. Al;l I can do is hope for the best and heal"
