Sandro de América was the first Latino artist to ever perform at Madison Square Garden. The singer, sometimes referred to as the Argentine Elvis, was the first celebrity to pass away in 2010 due to complications from a heart and lung transplant on January 4th. He was born on August 19, 1945 in Buenos Aries. He was sixty four years old.

BLANCA SÁNCHEZ

After dealing with liver problems for some time, the Mexican actress passed away at the age of sixty three on January 7th after doctors unexpectedly discovered a severe drop of platelets in her blood. Sanchez played the role of Thalía's mother in two different soap dramas.

The Mexican entertainment world stood in awe on February 1st when actor Rodolfo De Anda died from a severe thrombosis blood clot. The actor was sixty seven years old and led a long and successful career for more than forty years.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

The famous British designer was born on March 17, 1969. Aside from living the life of fame and fortune as one of the biggest names in high fashion, depression got the best of him on February 11th when he commit suicide at his home in London.

COREY HAIM

The Canadian actor, born December 23, 1971, was the teen idol of the era for all young people in the eighties. His first big break came in the 1985 film Murphy's Romance starring Sally Field. The popular actor was discovered dead by his mother at his apartment in California on March 10 citing pulmonary edema as the cause of death.

The beautiful model and television host Lina Marulanda was born in Medellín on May 15, 1980. Although she seemed to be on top of the world with her successful career, the aspiring starlet decided to end her life after jumping off the balcony of her Bogota apartment on April 22nd.

The widower of actress Britanny Murphy, who passed away in December of 2009, was born on March 9, 1970 and was discovered dead in his bedroom by his mother on May 23rd, in the same home where Murphy had passed just months before.

GARY COLEMAN

Who could forget the antics of young "Arnold" from the long running sitcom series Diff'rent Strokes (NBC)? The actor battled health problems for most of his life, which included a severe kidney disease and that eventually resulted in his death on May 28th after being pulled off of life support from a hospital in Utah.

DENNIS HOPPER

The legendary actor was born in Kansas on May 17, 1936. Aside from also being known as a prolific artist and sculptor, he also made headlines with his countless failed relationship which always lead to divorce. He won an Oscar in 1969 for his role in the film Easy Rider and then lost his battle against prostate cancer on May 29th.

Some of the books published by the Nobel Prize Winner for Literature, such as El evangelio según Jesucristo and Ensayo sobre la ceguera are considered pillars of contemporary literature today. The celebrated author found his knack for writing while working at a tailor shop. He was born in Portugal on November 22, 1922 and passed away from his home in the Canary Islands on June 18th.

The author of Días de guardar was without a doubt one of the most intellectual voices throughout Latin America. His generation of writers included Elena Poniatowska and Carlos Fuentes, who together dominated the era in Mexico. He was born in the Mexican capital on May 4, 1938, where he also passed away due to respiratory complications on June 19th. He was never married or had any children.

OLGA GUILLOT

The popular "queen of bolero" was born in Cuba on October 9, 1922. Her intoxicating voice conquered the music world during the forties era. She also sang along with greats such as the legendary Edith Piaf. She died earlier this year in Miami from a stroke on July 12th.

MARÍA TERESA RIVAS

While most are sure that Rivas was born on May 6 of 1933 in Jalisco, Mexico and began her acting career during the fifties era, other sources, including one of her grandchildren, claim that she was really ninety two years old when she passed away on July 26th. The popular actress played roles in classic soap dramas such Los ricos también lloran and Colorina.

The father of actress Itatí Cantoral composed some of the most well known musical themes in Latin music: "El triste", "La barca" and "Reloj" just to name a few. The Mexican producer who was born on June 7, 1935 was visited by millions of fans from the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City after ppassing away on August 7th of this year.

GLORIA STUART

Born on the 4th of July in 1910 and one of the most beloved artists for more than eighty years, although most remember her as the aged Rose in the film Titanic, passed away at the age of 100 this past September 26th in California.

ROMINA YAN

At the age of thirty six she suffered a sudden heart attack on September 28th in Buenos Aires. The actress became known during her years on the hit soap Provócame alongside co-star Chayanne, was survived by her three children.

TONY CURTIS

The native New Yorker, who acted in more than sixty films throughout his long and successful career, was born in the Bronx on July 3, 1925. Films such as Criss Cross and Some Like It Hot became instant cult classics around the world. Curtis fell after suffering cardiac arrest at a Nevada hospital on October 4th. His two daughters, actors Kelly and Jamie Lee Curtis, were present at his funeral.

The great Mexican actor started his career as radio show host during the fifties in Mexico City and a decade later found his passion for acting. He was recognized for many of memorable moments of his career, including the coveted Premio Ariel award. Obregon was born on July 11, 1935 in district of San Luis Potosí and died on November 13th in the Mexican capital.

FREDDY BERAS GOICO

He was one of the great comedians to come from the island of the Dominican Republic. His fame reached its apex with the television show El gordo de la semana. The beloved idol was born November 20, 1940 and unfortunately lost the battle against pancreatic cancer in New York City this past November 18th just a few days before his 70th birthday.

The actor known to many as the witty detective Frank Drebin in The Naked Gun films, passed away due to complications from pneumonia at the age of eighty four on November 28th in Florida. He was born in Canada on February 11, 1926 and began his film career in his mid-fifties.

The legendary film director was born on the 26th of July in 1922 and passed on also at the hand of pneumonia on December 15th. He was the original creator of The Pink Panther, as well as the genius behind the timeless classic Breakfast at Tiffany's starring Audrey Hepburn.
