#7 BEN IVES
Ben Ives has been a dependable forward for the Wild this season. Ives has great vision on the ice, always seeming to find the open player in stride. He isn't afraid to take a big hit to make a play for his team, nor is he afraid to make a big hit on a player twice his size. Ives is fearless on the ice and is willing to battle for every loose puck.
Ives is a smart hockey player and is always in great position to make a play--whether it be offensive or defensive. He has a knack for putting himself in great scoring positions and giving himself the best opportunity to score a goal.
Ives' hard work in the corners helps his line be a huge threat in the offensive zone. In the defensive end, Ives does a great job helping defenseman cover players in the high slot, while not allowing the defenseman he is covering to make a play. On the breakout, Ives has done a great job using the wall to make sure every puck gets out of the zone.
The coaches hope to improve his strength and mental toughness this season, noting they want to cut out his retaliating after big hits.
