D4 Renown System Explained

I have never been a speed racer who fly’s past everything, so I like this new feature.
I am sure others will find something to complain about that is what they do best.

You dont have to worry one bit!

The basic concept of having rewards for exploring a game world, rather than just fighting in a game world, is a classic. And essentially always good imo.
So Renown is a big positive.

However, making it account wide… is not. Seems to go directly against the goal of rewarding characters for exploring the world.
My Bleed WW barb clearing some camp is not the same as my MeteorBolt Sorc doing it. Let each have their own journey.

Also, they should mix up/rotate what gives Renown each major patch cycle. New/moved Altars to find, new challenges to do (like finding rare mobs in the overworld, clearing camps with various limits/rules (clear camp X at highest difficulty without legendary/uniques equipped, or clear camp Y where all monsters have an addition monster affix etc., like stuff you might see in D3 conquests, but focused on exploration and content diversity), etc.

I knew it would not take long at all. It really seems like they want the players to interact with the world and not just run past everything to get to a boss. Like a hamster on a treadmill doing the same thing over and over.

Just makes me want to do what I was going to do anyway - Complete as much of each area as possible on first play though. I’ll just get bennies for doing it!

I will most likely do that a few times before I start with the end game, I do not want to miss anything.

OKAY THAT’S IT!!! Time to dust off the old WoW toon, Soughtseeker (before the title was in the game, I changed it to Sought the Seeker afterwards) and explore every nook and cranny of D4. I will stick with the Rogue, too bad I can’t be undead. I will let everyone else be Dora the Explorer, or Doraexplorer if you will.

I tend to agree that it should not be account-bound and each character in a repertoire should have to earn their own, distinct, renown. The latter is “harder” to code, though, as it requires more lines so the easy way out is the faster way.

People will just load up a guide on whatever diablo site still exists and knock it out either way.

It isn’t about being hard to code. Im sure it takes more to code it to be account bound. This is about encouraging playing additional characters. Should be a toggle for those that don’t want the bonuses.
