Everton make contact for Sassuolo’s Rogério

Everton are in need of a left back to rival Vitalii Mykolenko, and according to TMW’s Marco Conterio, they have asked Sassuolo about Rogério and expressed their interest in the Brazilian. Rogério has been a consistent performer for Sassuolo since he joined the club on loan in 2017. He made 49 appearances as a loanee from Juventus, before making the move permanent in 2019.

The Brazilian has slowly grown in stature at the Neroverdi, and played 36 league games last season. At the age of 25, he is still developing and Everton have identified him as a strong, cheap alternative to Mykolenko.

Everton are looking for defensive reinforcements as they will face another tough battle to retain their Premier League status next season. Sean Dyche is renowned for his tough defensive set-up, making it hard for the opposition to score. That approach unfortunately didn’t translate onto the pitch in his first few months at Everton, and he is therefore looking to explore the market and strengthen his squad.
