The Air Jordan 4 ‘Bred Reimagined could well be the biggest sneaker of 2024

We're not even a week into 2024, and sneaker die-hards are already crowning the Air Jordan 4 ‘Bred Reimagined’ as the sneaker of the year. Yes, it is only January. And yes, it's a pretty big statement to make – but it's one that potentially has substance given the magnitude of this release.

Rumours of the ‘Bred Reimagined’ surfaced all the way back in March of last year, just days before the release of the Air Jordan 3 ‘White Cement Reimagined.’ While the details were a little sketchy at first, Nike has now officially confirmed that it does actually exist. Dropping just in time to celebrate the silhouette's big 35th birthday (many happy returns!), the original ‘Bred’ was one of the first colourways to grace Michael Jordan's fourth trainer. It arrived right after his first career MVP award, and it was also the first AJ4 ever to feature the “Flight” script detailing that has been seen on every single pair since.

For this ‘Reimagined’ edition, Jordan Brand has dropped the classic all-suede construction in favour of tumbled leather that's meant to look – and feel – more premium. Painted in black, it's accented with ‘Fire Red’ throughout, which is where the ‘Bred’ nickname comes from (black + red, duh). ‘Cement Grey’ tones make their way to the lacing system and inner lining, and all of this sits on top of a white midsole that's infused with Air tech for extra bounce and comfort.

Another thing that makes the ‘Bred Reimagined’ pretty special is the rubber heel badge around the back. While most pairs these days feature the Jumpman insignia, this one comes with the “Nike Air” logo just like the OG from ‘89. All of this is then packed in a special pre-aged shoebox, just like the ‘Lost & Found’ that launched two years ago.

Nike isn't holding back on the 35th birthday. Not only will 2013's ‘Fear’ be making a comeback, the legendary ‘Military Blue’ from 1989 is also set to return. Plenty of coveted collabs are set to be announced very soon as well, so if you're a big fan, you should probably start saving right now.

The Air Jordan 4 ‘Bred Reimagined’ is set to release on February 17 via Nike, the Snkrs app, and select stockists across the globe. A retail price has yet to be confirmed, but expect to pay around £170.
