💡I am here again to speak to the reality that anger can reside in us due to many different experiences that have made us feel ashamed. As you scan through these slides, please keep in mind that if you experience anger or rage, anger management is not the epitome of healing, rather the onus should be put on understanding where your anger exists, how it made a home inside you, concurrently with coping skills and strategies to manage anger. BWHI will be hosting a maternal mental health webinar titled "The Path To Perinatal Mental Wellness: A Missing Link to Improving Black Maternal Health Outcomes." The event will take place Thursday, January 27th, from 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm EST. This webinar will demystify perinatal mental health and mood disorders, discuss why Black birthing people are falling through the cracks for screening and care, and the path to wellness. You will have the chance to ask our panel of experts questions and discuss a variety of issues including maternal mental health statistics, gaps in maternal mental health research treatment, mindfulness approaches to stress and anxiety, current policies that advocate for maternal mental health, and much more. 🌻To improve our mindful habits, we don’t need to rush to "fix" or change everything at once. We can take it one at a time. #mindfulness #psychotherapy #wellness #change # 🌻Today, or when you are ready, select one aspect of mindfulness that can benefit you and your mental wellness. 🌻You can begin by reflecting and questioning your negative thoughts. (journaling, brain dump, etc.) 🌻If that feels uncomfortable, try express your thoughts and feelings through the arts! Becoming a parent & parenting has never been easy. Adding the pressure of a global pandemic into the mix has only made things more difficult! It feels like we are constantly making BIG decisions, taking on too many roles and tasks, grieving the loss of normalcy, grieving time alone, feeling isolated, missing out on socialization for our kids and ourselves, lacking support, experiencing loss alone, and on and on and on.
