Liam Gallagher has shared a health update, admitting that he is on a “downwards slide” after a youth spent partying. It comes after the singer had a hip replacement last year.

He needed the surgery after the joint was damaged by arthritis, caused by the autoimmune condition Hashimoto’s Disease. Liam was diagnosed with the condition, which affects the thyroid, in 2017. The 51-year-old also suffers from psoriasis, which causes inflammation and painful, scaly, flaky skin, the Mirror reports.

When he was the frontman of Oasis in the 1990s and early 00s, Liam was known for partying hard and bragged about drink and drugs. But it appears life has changed drastically for the 51-year-old.

Promoting his tour with John Squire, Liam spoke to The Sun and revealed that he’s now got to “undo” all the partying and “get back to reality.” He said: “All that stuff that you thought was cool in the early days . . . it’s time to get healthy."

He added: “"I’m definitely on the downwards slide, though. But we’re all going to die, aren’t we?” Liam now prefers early nights and herbal sleeping pills.

Liam revealed in 2022 that he had been diagnosed with arthritis, as a result of his longstanding thyroid problem, Hashimoto's disease. It's very common autoimmune condition of the thyroid gland, where the body's immune system starts attacking it. If left untreated, it can cause the vocal cords to swell, leading to a hoarse voice.

Last year he had a hip replacement as a result of the condition. But he didn’t let it bring him down, and joked on X (formerly Twitter) that he was ready for Riverdance.
