poetic films, which was newly invented and implemented in Georgian
cinematography like in European-American cinematography. The
emphasis is put on plastic artistic decision of the film.
They say that Nutsa Ghoghoberidze could not go up against
the power of such a big film-maker as Mikheil Kalatozishvili, the
author of the film Jim Shvantae and she actually was influenced by
his art. It was pretty natural and understandable as the language of
cinematography was in the process of development at that time and
the film-makers were seeking, experimenting, and discovering new
faces by using existing experience of different forms and qualities.
Culture-film such as Buba in given case according to
different viewpoints is a cognitive, propagandist, agitating film,
which on one hand introduces Racha (one of the picturesque regions
of Georgia), its nature and curing mineral waters; and on the other
hand, it describes hard life in Racha mountains and in General in old
Georgia. According to the film existing social and physical hardship
is supposed to be replaced by new Georgia the old to be replaced
by the new, joyful existence of happy people and new industrial
constructions . . .
Such method opposing new with old was a way of expression
characterized for the first decades of the Soviet movie development and
an obligatory decision at the same time. People were to be convinced
what an amazing life the new era brought to them and film-makers
were the ones who were supposed to do so.
Nutsa Ghoghoberidze as a film-maker was a victim of the era from
this point of view and she had to follow the force of fate, which had
no detaining dams, except, she could use only one way: before
30-ies of XX century she still could oppose the ideological servitude
by the means of decision of artistic tasks by using plastic, creatively
aesthetic cinematographic modes.
Buba is an example of such opposition and creative quest.

buried in the Macbeth. As if they are thrown on a huge landfill.
Once killed persons again continue their life not only in the dreams
of Macbeth and his wife, but also in reality. They are rising from the
dead for their personal revenge; kindness and justice are far from
these people. Devil of Macbeth makes once killed people being in the
group of opposition. Life and death is united against Macbeths devil.
The clowns of Shakespeare are different in Sturuas performances.
In this case the clown is an obedient, ingratiated subordinated
person, who has absolutely lost his human dignity. Robert Sturua and
choreographer Gia Marghania created Macbeths and lady Macbeths
unusual plastic draft. They raised tragic and strange love of this couple
from the death. Simultaneous spreading of several actions on the stage
is characteristic for the theatre language of director Robert Sturua. It
happens in Macbeth too. It is enough if we remember the episode,
when Malcolm and his partners are planning conspiracy against
Macbeth on one side of the stage, but on the other side of the stage
there is frightened lady Macbeths feeling of regret and mortal agony.
Metaphorical understanding of the action of the personages is
significant for Robert Sturua. The talk is about the accent of so called
Evil hands of the active persons. Hands are disclosing intentions of
the heroes in some episodes.
The fact is significant that in the end of the performance the
director even stopped Macbeth of playing football with cut head of
human. It was the metaphorical method of director.

Over the years, Spielbergs films have shifted from being about
mothers caring for endangered and lost children (usually boys or even
men) to fathers learning to care for sons (and some- times daughters),
whether literally (Hook) or more usually symbolically (Empire of the
Sun, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Always, Indiana Jones
and the Last Crusade, Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park, Schindlers
List, Amistad).
Spielberg has received his fair share of criticism for his work for
being too sentimental (after ET some critics perceive his work taking
a downturn), too facile (Jurassic Park and Schindlers List in the same
year?), too focused on spectacle rather than substance, prone to happy
endings no matter how traumatic the story and its stated claims to
truth.
In more recent years Spielberg has moved away from the story
settings and images that his name-making films often drew on. Yet,
even now, almost thirty years into his career, Spielberg continues to
populate his movies.
