Emeline smiled into the kiss, sighing as she pulled Jasper closer. Her head was dizzy, his lips intoxicating her, and she pulled back for a moment. She went to speak, but her speech turned into a bloodcurdling scream when his blood red eyes looked back.

 Emeline woke up screaming. Again.

Her chest heaved and her heart was still racing as she tried to decipher the dream. More and more she'd been having dreams about blood red eyes, and it was always terrifying, for reasons unbeknownst to her.

It was like her dream self knew more than she did.

Her dream self at the very least had some strong opinions that she wanted to be known.

Logically she knew that the only reason Jasper had been the subject of this dream was because they'd been texting all weekend, since Alice had given him her number. She hated to admit it, but she had a full blown crush on him by that point.

Crush or no crush, the re-occurrence of the red eyes was a little harder to explain.

It took a few more minutes for her breathing to return to normal, and the sound of blood rushing to stop ringing in her ears, but when it finally did she rolled over in bed to check her phone.

Turning on her phone burned her eyes, and the brightness made her recoil for a second before she saw the notification on her screen.

It was six in the morning, so she knew she wasn't getting anymore sleep, but luckily she wasn't the only person awake. Emeline unlocked her phone at record speed, her heart beating faster for a completely different reason than before as she opened her messages.

From: Texas
If you're late today I'm not texting you at night anymore

Emeline propped herself up on one of her elbows as she continued to lay in bad, and she typed her response quickly a little too quickly, her fingers flying across her keyboard.

To: Texas
Good thing I'm not going to be late then : ))

Emeline could see him start to type his response, but she forced herself out of bed, stretching before she got ready in a simple sweater and jeans combo, wrinkling her nose at the itchiness of the sweater. It was new, and it felt like needles as it brushed over her skin.

After getting dressed she moved on to tame her bedhead listening to the sound of the heavy rain outside. Living in Forks  her entire life Emeline had gotten used to the constant soundtrack of rain, finding it comforting. The gentle noises calmed her down if she just focused on it, and her earlier dream was out of her mind entirely as she focused on getting ready before Mike came to pick her up.

Her phone sounded off with another ping just as she was finished tying her hair into a ponytail, and a smile crept it's way onto her face involuntarily.

From: Texas
We'll see about that

Eventually Mike made his way to her house, and the incessant honk of his horn made her speed up as she grabbed everything she might need for the day, slinging her backpack over her shoulder and fumbling with the lock on the door as quickly as possible. She didn't need her neighbors murdering her for the honking.

"You can stop with the noise now!" Emeline yelled as she climbed into the hand me down minivan Mike had been given by his mom. He was the first of their group to get a car, and though Emeline was able to borrow her mom's car sometimes, it was infinitely cooler to actually own one.

 She was a little jealous.

Mostly still just annoyed by the honking though.

"Sorry, I'm just a little distracted." Mike said as he pulled out of Emeline's driveway, putting on his windshield wipers, a dejected look on his face. He was waiting for her to ask what was wrong, and she was going to before she realized that she hadn't responded to Jasper.

To: Texas
I will be. Meet you by the office to prove it : )

Emeline quickly turned her phone off after that, turning all of her attention to Mike as he sighed yet again.

"What's got you all worked up?" The brunette asked, buckling her seatbelt, and avoiding Mike's puppy dog eyes. She couldn't stand seeing him upset.

"Jess is gonna ask out Cullen today." Mike practically spit out the name, and Emeline nodded.

"I saw in the group chat. Why is it bothering you so much?" Emeline honestly knew why it was bothering Mike so much, but the blond had yet to admit his feelings for Jessica.

"I don't know." Mike said, and Emeline felt sympathy for him. He'd been oblivious to his feelings for Jessica for the better part of the year, and Jessica was similarly oblivious. Angela and Emeline bonded over their mutual frustration that the two hadn't gotten together yet, and Emeline hoped that this whole Edward Cullen crush would lead Jessica to realize her feelings for Mike. "You should stop her." Emeline suggested, and Mike shook his head.

Him not being willing to do it didn't really hurt Emeline's master plan to get the two together, so she didn't push it.

When they got to the school Emeline made a beeline for the front office, seeing that Jasper was already waiting there for her, and Emeline could feel the corners of her mouth twitch upwards.

"Took you long enough. I was beginning to think you'd been lying about being on time." Jasper said, nonchalantly leaning up against a wall, and Emeline felt the urge to stick her tongue out at him, just to wipe the stupid smirk off his face.

"You have such little faith in me. We weren't even texting that late last night." Emeline insisted, and Jasper looked down at her inquisitively.

"You usually stay up until one am? From what I've heard, humans tend to need sleep." He joked, his eyes lighting up as he chuckled.

"You know, I actually don't think I've heard that." Emeline teased, and the two kept going back and forth with their jabs until it was time to go to class, and Emeline reluctantly head to algebra, taking her seat beside Angela.

"I thought you weren't into Alice's brother?" Angela asked innocently as she pulled out her algebra notebook, and Emeline sighed.

"We're friends." She explained, and Angela clicked her tongue.

"Doesn't seeem like it's just that." She dragged out, and Emeline rolled her eyes.

"You're just as bad as Jess you know." Being friends for so many years had caused all three of the girls to pick up on some of each other's traits, at least when they were around each other.

The three of them had infected each other with their strongest traits. From Jessica's nosiness, to Emeline's tendency to speak without thinking, to Angela's quick thinking, all of them shared some traits from time to time. It was the curse of knowing each other since diapers.

"If I was really as bad as Jess I'd be telling you what happened with Edward Cullen this morning, but I'm not so I'm not going to." Angela said before her eyes widened as she realized how much she'd already spilled. Maybe she was as bad as Jessica.

Jessica was going to kill her if she didn't get the chance to tell Emeline herself.

"What happened with Edward Cullen?"
