Margaret Jean George (Marge) passed away in the early morning of Monday, Jan. 5, 2015. She had been ill for several years with congestive heart failure.
Marge was born Dec. 11, 1934 at Hampton to Arthur and Loreen Klute. She graduated in 1952 from Bradshaw High School and attended Grand Island Business College. Her marriage to Marvin George took place April 11, 1954, and three sons were born to their union.
In 1956 they moved to Pocatello, Idaho where they remained for 33 years. Marge worked at First Security Bank for 27 years and retired as assistant manager of the Alameda Branch. During her working years she was active in Soroptimists International, Business and Professional Women, and National Association of Bank Women, of which she is a Past President. She also served in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary, and in 2004 she was chosen “Mrs. VFW” at the state convention.
Marge was very active in barbershop singing for many years. She sang with the Sweet Adelines in Pocatello, Idaho and the Valley Chordettes in Green Valley, Ariz. Marge bowled in league for years and was also into various crafts. She had many creative hobbies.
After retirement, Marv and Marge became snowbirds for 12 years. They spent summers in Idaho and winters in Green Valley, Ariz. They moved to Orofino, Idaho in 2000 and made their home here as full-time residents. Marge sang with the Community Choir and became active in P.E.O. and the VFW Auxiliary. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church.
Marge is survived by her husband, Marvin George and her three sons. Her oldest son, Thomas George, and wife, Tammy, live with their children, Erkin and Kyma in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Her second son, Craig George and his wife, Leslie, live in Casa Grande, Ariz. with their children Thomas, Julianne, Aaron and Meg. Her youngest son, Brad and his wife, Michelle, live in Orofino with their children Yolande and Hayden. Marge also has two surviving brothers, Dennis Klute of Phoenix, Ariz. and Donald Klute of Bradshaw as well as her sister-in-law, Rose Klute, and many nieces and nephews.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lowell Klute.
Funeral services will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. and then interment at Orofino Cemetery on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015. A potluck lunch will follow at Ascension Lutheran Church.
